Pool Winterization

After what we hope has been a summer of great fun, it is time to think about closing the pool for the winter. Exactly when you close the pool is a personal decision, but we would recommend not waiting until freezing weather is encountered, as this decision can prove to be very chilling. For most people, mid to late October is the chosen time for closing their pools, but it is probably best to let the weather help you make up your mind.

WARNING

An improperly winterized pool can be severely damaged by ice. If you are unsure of any of the steps outlined above, please contact an Aqua Leisure representative. We will be happy to answer any questions you have about winterizing your pool.

Swimming Pool Winterization 2008

• Lower water level in pool to appropriate level
• Drain pool filtration, heating, and plumbing equipment
• Blow out filtration lines and equipment and install winter plugs (winter plugs are not included in quoted pricing)
• Remove diving board and pool sweep
• Install ice compensator in skimmer
• Install winter chemicals (chemicals not included—see complete pricing by clicking on the link below)

Swimming Pool Summerization 2008

• Re-installation of accessories removed for winterization
• Clean and inspect filter grids or cartridges
• Reassemble filter and pump(s)
• Lubricate selector valve and Jandy valves
• Test heater and pilot (LP tank must have gas)
• Activate system (water must be at proper operating level)
• Test pool water
• Spa attached to pool
• Removal of mesh pool cover (includes folding cover and locking down anchors)
• Remove, clean, and lubricate cover anchors
• Removal and golding of clean dry solid pool cover
• Pool vacuuming
• Pools with Caretaker Floor System (only on certain 1984-1987 Anthony pools)
• Acid wash

Schedule your pool for a follow-up service and backwash within several days of summerization. The job will be done in a workmanlike manner. The results will depend on the condition of the water.
